Mississippi County Bird Watching...

Mississippi
County is situated in the Mississippi Flyway along the Mississippi and
Ohio Rivers. With its abundant water and agricultural lands, the area is
home to resting migratory species in spring and fall.
Ponds at Ten Mile Conservation area welcome wading shorebirds in the spring and Big Oak Tree State Par is known for its birding opportunities year-round. Both sites are south of East Prairie on State Hwy 102.
Delaney Conservation Area, located on State Hwy N north of Charleston, is another great site for birding.

Sandbars along the river are summer nesting grounds to terns and
Mississippi kites, and within the past few years, Black-necked stilts have
been summer visitors at Ten Mile Pond Conservation Area.

Come visit us in Mississippi County in the heart of the Mississippi River Flyway, and don't forget your binoculars.
